Residential Services

We work closely with the individuals we support and their families to help them achieve their full potential by providing a wide range of community-based services.

What are Residential Services?

St Catherine’s provide high quality, safe and effective residential supports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the moderate to profound range.

St Catherine’s residential offer a homely and caring environment for individuals who require full-time support with a focus on person-centred care. Our experienced teams of social care workers create individualized care plans, tailored to meet the specific needs and preferences of each individual.

Our goal is to create a comfortable and inclusive space where each individual can develop life skills, engage in recreational activities, and build meaningful relationships with their peers and care-givers.

What type of Residential Services do we provide?

St Catherine’s currently provides residential services to children, aged 7 to 17 years, and adults, aged 18 to 25 years, with a diagnosis of moderate to profound intellectual disability.

These services operate 24/7 in a variety of locations throughout County Wicklow. All designated centres are fully registered with the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA), and operate in line with the Health Act 2007, Regulations 2013.

Each residential service is setup to support individuals in line with their assessed needs which may involve the provision of support to a sole occupant, or to two or three individuals with a similar profile of need and interest cohabiting.

Residential Support provides:

  • A safe, secure environment in which individuals can grow and develop
  • Appropriate supports to meet complex individual needs in a dignified and respectful manner
  • Opportunities for individuals to become valued and active member of their local community
  • Opportunities to develop and mature through a wide range of activities

This is achieved through:

  • The development and review of a Comprehensive Assessment detailing the individual’s needs and taking into consideration their own will and preference
  •  Engagement with an individual’s Circle of Support including parents / guardians, relevant members of their Multidisciplinary Team, school and advocates
  • The development, implementation and ongoing review of a Personal Plan that guides our staff team in the provision of person centred care at every turn
  • Provision of all essential and centre specific training to our staff teams, along with clear policies to support best practice on the ground

We share the responsibility of care with the individuals we support and their families so that all can thrive in the embrace of our community.
