Welcome to Brambles
Brambles is a respite centre situated on the grounds of the Brambles-Haughton complex on the outskirts of Newcastle Upper in Co. Wicklow.
Brambles provides dedicated traditional respite supports to children, aged between 6 and 18, with an intellectual disability in the moderate to profound range. Brambles also caters to individuals sensory difficulties, communication issues, and complex behavioural issues.
Brambles provides a home-from-home for to up to four children each night.
We, at Brambles, understand that caring for a loved one with an intellectual disability can be both rewarding and challenging. Our respite services provide families and primary caregivers with much-needed relief. Whether it’s one night or a few nights, our highly-trained staff will ensure your loved one is safe, engaged, and well-cared for while you take some time for yourself.
During their stay, we offer fun and stimulating activities, promoting social interactions and individual growth.
We believe that every child has unique strengths, abilities, and individualised preferences, therefore the St Catherine’s person-centred approach ensures that our services are tailored to meet the specific needs and goals of each child we support. The goal being to foster independence and self-determination.
Brambles actively encourage community engagement and social inclusion. Through various activities and outings, we help individuals build social connections and foster a sense of belonging within the broader community.
We share this responsibility with the individuals we support and their families so that all can thrive in the embrace of our community.
