St. Catherine’s Association hosted a fantastic summer event at the EDC Building in Newtownmountkennedy on Wednesday August 22, and it was a day filled with joy, laughter, and plenty of activities for everyone! As staff and children & young adults from across respite, residential and day services gathered with families and friends, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement.

The fun begins!

One of the highlights of the day was the much-anticipated ice cream van, which offered a wide array of delicious flavors. The sight of kids and adults alike enjoying their scoops of ice cream under the sun added a cool touch to the event. For those looking for something more substantial, the event featured a wonderful catering service that offered a variety of tasty dishes. From burgers and sausages straight off the barbecue to savoury bites to refreshing salads, there was something for everyone to enjoy. And let’s not forget the iced coffees! These chilled, caffeinated treats were a hit, providing a cool break from the warm day.

Fire Truck!

Adding to the excitement, a local fire truck made a special appearance, allowing both kids and adults to get up close with the impressive vehicle. The fire crew was on hand to answer questions and even let some of the younger attendees try on a firefighter’s helmet – an experience they won’t soon forget!

The bouncy castle and other fun stuff….

No summer event would be complete without some high-energy activities, and the bouncy castle assault course did not disappoint. Staff and kids alike bounced, climbed, and slid their way through the inflatable obstacle course, burning off energy and having an absolute blast. For those more inclined to ball games, the GAA goalpost setup was a brilliant alternative. Children and adults alike could hone their kicking skills, with some even receiving tips from the seasoned GAA players in attendance.

A great, fun-filled day!

The event was a huge success, bringing the community together for a day of fun, food, and entertainment. St. Catherine’s Association truly knows how to throw a summer celebration, and this year’s event at the EDC Building will be remembered fondly by all who attended. Here’s to many more fantastic community events in the future!
